Our client is an established civil engineering contractor active on a number of projects across Mainland Europe. This organisation is currently delivering underground services, groundworks and superstructure packages primarily on large-scale data centre & pharmaceutical schemes An experienced Health & Safety Manager is now required to join the project team in Mons, Belgium on a hyper-scale data centre construction. This is a mission-critical role on a technically demanding, fast-paced project — your leadership will ensure the safety of hundreds of site operatives and set the benchmark for safety culture across the package. Your Role Key Responsibilities Requirements What We Offer
Reporting to the Project Director and Group HSE Lead, you will take ownership of all health, safety, and environmental activities for our civil works scope, ensuring legal compliance, continuous improvement, and zero-harm performance.
• Lead site-wide HSE strategy and ensure compliance with Belgian legislation and client requirements
• Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, method statement reviews, and audits
• Manage toolbox talks, inductions, and ongoing training programmes
• Investigate incidents, report near misses, and drive root cause analysis with corrective actions
• Liaise with the main contractor, client HSE teams, and subcontractors to ensure a unified safety approach
• Promote a proactive safety culture among site teams and operatives
• Monitor environmental compliance including waste management, noise, and emissions
• 7+ years' experience in construction HSE management, preferably on large-scale civil engineering or industrial projects
• Previous data centre, high-tech, or mission-critical project experience is highly advantageous
• NEBOSH Diploma, Level 6 NVQ, or equivalent HSE qualification required
• In-depth knowledge of Belgian/EU HSE legislation and local authority regulations
• Strong leadership, communication, and reporting skills
• Fluent in English; working knowledge of French or Dutch highly desirable
• Eligible to work in Belgium (EU citizenship or valid work permit)
